To Our Community in Oyster Bay;

At the risk of repeating something you may have already heard - these are unprecedented times. What should that mean for how we view - and do - church? Your Session offers the following.

Our first priority is to do what we can to limit the spread of the disease, stay healthy, and place the needs of our community before our own. This means suspending certain activities at church, and moving others online. Our second priority is to continue to offer ministry and Christian witness as we are able. Here is how we seek to be faithful in this tension.

1. We encourage you to stay home (nothing personal…). All Sunday School classes and Ministry Team Meetings are suspended until at least the end of March. Such business as needs to be done can take place via email.

2. This past Sunday (March 15), we had 26 people attend an abbreviated worship service, which was audio recorded and posted on our web site. This service proved to be important for those who attended, and we feel we can safely continue to offer it as we follow all applicable guidelines. There will be no coffee hour.

Based on actions taken by New York State, we hope to resume regular worship services on Palm Sunday - April 5. This decision will depend on Federal and State recommendations that come out between now and then. We will regularly update this

letter and post it online.

We are exploring what we can do to help our older or at risk members, as well as others in the community. This may included shopping, providing assistance with online services, and such.

If you do not receive our weekly emails, please sign up to do so on our web site. This has always been the second best way to keep up with what is going on (the best way, of course, is actually being here, but…).

These are exceptional times, but we are an exceptional people with an exceptional God. May this same God bless and keep you all in the warmth of his embrace, even as we long for the warmth of a fellowship currently on hold.
